16th Homeless Animals Day/Candlelight Vigil (August 21, 2010)
National Homeless Animals Day and Candlelight Vigil will be held at the Governor Sprague Mansion in Cranston, RI, on Saturday, August 21, 2010, from 6:00 P. M. to 9:00 P. M. Defenders of Animals, Inc., will be celebrating a National Homeless Animals' Day at RI. Defenders of Animals is commemorating this day to bring attention to the tragic situation of dog and cat overpopulation in Rhode Island. The overpopulation crisis condemns thousands of animals in Rhode Island every year and millions of companion animals to death every year in our country's animal shelters. Awards will be presented to individuals for their acts of humanness toward animals, including legislative awards to Rhode Island legislators for their role in introducing pro animal bills that have become law in Rhode Island. The event will also feature musical entertainment. The 16th Annual Homeless Animal Day and candlelight vigil is sponsored by Defenders of Animals, Inc. The event is free and open to the public.
